First of all thank you to all of you who attended our events this month at Mount Ephraim Gardens and the Abbey Physic Community garden! During what has been and wet and windy month, we were blessed with fine weather on both days during the half term. The response we had was amazing, and as well as cooking lots of lovely food and hundreds of pancakes, we met some lovely people!
Our Mount Ephraim workshop was sold out several weeks beforehand and our upcoming Easter holiday course is heading that way too, so thank you! At Mount Ephraim, we had 14 children, many as young as four, managing the fire and using knives and peelers to prepare and cook a vegetable broth, as well as eating freshly made flat breads filled with Mr. Peppers Porkers from Macknade butchers, before finally finishing off with pancakes and toasted marshmallows, every single bit of food went!
While at Abbey Physic garden, we hosted a free drop-in event, where young people could cook their own pancakes and flat breads over an open fire, in beautiful surroundings. The garden is a wonderful place, and it was lovely to see so many young people enjoying it as well as their food, and we look forward to seeing many more people there in the future. (Please check calendar)
As well as these events, I've been lucky enough to work with a number of schools in February, and more importantly hundreds of fantastic young people cooking a range of dishes from Potato Peel and Wild Garlic Soup, Mexican Chilli Beef, as well as several hundred pancakes!
As for March, Wild Classroom, will be holding its first corporate day with Mount Ephraim this month, and as well as several school bookings I will be hosting my first adult Dutch Oven Course, where fellow outdoor cooks will be learning how to use this versatile piece of kit to cook a range of dishes and treats. While behind the scenes, I'm meeting some fantastic people who are excited by what I am doing, so hopefully more exciting announcements will be coming this way very soon!
